Performance Order: A random drawing on the day of the competition will determine performance order.

1. Find the category/categories in which you wish to compete. Select to pay your own fees or if you are being sponsored, select sponsorship.

2. Click on the button to register and pay for selected category/categories.

3. You will receive a confirmation email with additional information that includes your waiver forms. Additional information will follow regarding workshops, DVD orders, and fun!

Shimmilicious© Award & Shimmilicious© Troupe 2010!

Chosen from among the winning dancers in each category, the dancer and troupe with the most overall points will be declared BDNC's Shimmilicious©  2010! You have won your division! Now you have proven that you are the most Shimmilicious© in the bunch!  This award recognizes the artist(s) who have put their creativity, energy, artistry, and love into an artistic presentation on stage! PRIZES: Trophy, Marketing Package consisting of a dedicated webpage on the Belly Dance Nationals Competition website, DVD of The BDNC event. JUDGES: The Judging Panel. Your overall points will be calculated and the solo dancer and troupe with the highest number of overall points will win the Shimmilicious© Award 2010.

2010 People's Choice Award

What do the judges know? This award is chosen by your audience and will go to the dancer or troupe they love most!  PRIZES: Trophy and BDNC T-Shirt. JUDGES: The Audience

2010 Josephine Baker Theatrical Award

This category is for the most theatrical and entertaining presentation in the entire competition! This award is not just for the technically proficient dancer(s), but for the performance which most moves us, with specific attention given to entertainment value. PRIZES: Trophy and BDNC T-Shirt. JUDGES: The Judging Panel.

The 2010 Jewel of the Nile Lifetime Achievement Award

Nominations by prior submission only. Are you or someone you know a survivor, artist, dancer, educator, volunteer, service worker, professional, exceptional parent/guardian, mentor, or achiever in our dance community? Has this person made a significant and positive change in your dance life? The Jewel of the Nile Award is for the individual that has risen above the challenges and adversities of life, yet strives to Pay-It-Forward (Definition: the act of voluntarily helping another without expectation of payback). Please submit a short essay of 600 words or less telling us why you think your person should be nominated for the Award.  Include examples of their inspiration, activities, achievements, creativity, imagination, innovation, and/or survival. Nominate the most inspirational contestant or person in your life who most inspires others and yes, you may nominate yourself. PRIZES: Achievement Trophy.  JUDGES: The NDC

NATIONAL MASTERS CHAMPION -CLOSED

Any level of competitor who is 49 years of age or older.  Performance time of five (5) minutes or less.  Although you may use classical or modern music, Middle Eastern music is required. Props may be used, but are limited to two (2) props only, including veils and finger cymbals. NO extra points for prop usage, but points may be deducted for improper use.

PRIZES: The National Masters Champion Title, Tiara/Crown, Trophy, A gift package of  M.A.C. and couture, high-end brand cosmetics, Accessories and Jewelry, Official BDNC T-shirt, Pageant Winner Photo Shoot, Promotional Webpage on the Belly Dance Nationals Competition website.

NATIONAL CHAMPION - CLOSED

This category is limited to contestants over the age of 16.  Performance time of five (5) minutes or less.  Although you may use classical or modern music, Middle Eastern music is required. Props may be used, but are limited to two (2) props only, including veils and finger cymbals. NO extra points for prop usage, but points may be deducted for improper use.

NATIONAL TROUPE CHAMPION -

CLOSED

Limited to groups of two or or more dancers. Troupe category will allow dancers sixteen (16) years and older. All members must perform during the entire performance. Props may be used, but are limited to two (2) props only, including veils and finger cymbals. Performance time of six (6) minutes or less. Although you may use classical or modern music, Middle Eastern music is required.  NO extra points for prop usage, but points may be deducted for improper use.

NATIONAL ALTERNATIVE/FUSION CHAMPION - CLOSED

This category is open to any level/age of dancer using Urban, Bollywood, Tribal, Hip-Hop, and other ethnic fusion dance styles. Props such as swords, finger cymbals, etc. may be used however, they must be limited to 1/2 of your performance. NO live flames or fire, liquid,  guns/rifles are allowed. Performance time of five (5) minutes or less.  Music is open, however it is required that your dance performance consists of at least 50% bellydance movements. No extra points for props.

PRIZES: The National Alternative Fusion Champion Title, Tiara/Crown, Trophy, a gift package of  M.A.C. and high-end brand cosmetics, Accessories and Jewelry, Official BDNC T-shirt, Pageant Winner Photo Shoot, Promotional Webpage on the Belly Dance Nationals Competition website.

NATIONAL ALTERNATIVE/FUSION TROUPE -CLOSED

This category is open to any level/age of dancers using ATS/ITS, Urban, Bollywood, Tribal, Hip-Hop, and other ethnic fusion dance styles. Limited to groups of two (2) or more dancers. Children under the age of sixteen are not allowed to compete in this category.  All members must perform during the entire performance. Props such as swords, finger cymbals, etc. may be used however, must be limited to 1/2 of your performance. NO live flames or fire, liquid, guns/rifles are allowed. Performance of six (6) minutes or less.  Music is open, however it is required that your dance performance consists of at least 50% bellydance movements. No extra points for props.

PROPTASTIC! -CLOSED

If you love dancing with props, this is the category for you! All props are allowed in this category. Any Level and age dancer may apply. Performance of five (5) minutes or less. Props can be: canes, tahtib, sword, veil, finger cymbals, electric shamadan, dancing on a drum or goblets, isis wings, fan veils, veil poi (voi), etc. NO live flames or fire, liquid,  guns/rifles, are allowed. This category was created to fairly give dancers a place to compete with props. The 'number' of props do not allow extra points, but your transitions and usage of them will give you maximum points!
