Azhia (2003 Jewel of the Nile--now Belly Dance Nationals—winner, 2003 Belly Dancer of the Universe) is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Montréal, Canada. Azhia regularly performs and coaches her unique style of modern oriental dance, is a freelance makeup artist, and designs and fabricates original costuming and couture. Azhia is the makeup artist for Raq the Camera, a nationally known photography team.
Azhia's ability to combine her talents has lead to the co-creation of "The Dancer's Companion" DVD series, and widely attended events such as Fuzefest (Philadelphia, PA), Cabaret Al Amar (Montréal), Raq the Camera (major U.S. cities), and Shimmy Shoot (major Canadian cities). Azhia also regularly performs as 'ChatChat Miao' with Cabaret Blue Light Burlesque. www.azhiadance.com.
