SAMIRA SHURUK
JUDGE
Samira Shuruk is a full time ethnic dance performer and part time fitness and movement teacher with over 20 years experience.  Dance is her passion and respect for the cultural dances is her guiding light in her career.  As a jazz dance major in college her studies included jazz, modern and tap dance, ballet, choreography, kinesiology, improvisation, pedagogy, acting, music theory and much more. A bachelors degree in Theater Arts from the University of Delaware provided her with the opportunity to focus her energies on other aspects of theatricality including costuming. Samira  believes very strongly in starting from an authentic base before spring boarding into creativity and fusion.  To this end she still takes regular classes and enhances her learning with workshops and travel.

In addition to oriental style, Samira performs folklore and Bollywood Mujra, an Indian specialty based on classical Kathak.

She has danced for crown princes, ambassadors and other diplomats and is recommended by the Turkish Embassy in Washington DC. As a premiere performer throughout the DC tri-state region, she is invited regularly to perform in top NYC venues and travels around the US to teach workshops and to perform.
