CONFIDENCE IN CHAOS!  - Workshop with Ahava
Tips and tricks for dancing on stage! Competing can be a whirlwind of nerves, anxiousness, joy and sometimes disappointment. In this workshop, Ahava teaches the importance of finding your center and keeping your confidence! Ahava will teach posture, the importance of facial expressions and how to connect with your audience on stage. She will also give a small lecture and some of her favorite tips regarding self confidence and stage presence.


AN INSIDER'S GUIDE TO BELLYDANCE COMPETITIONS! -
Workshop with Oreet
Have you ever wondered…? What are the judges looking for? What is the best style to present? What costume(s) should you wear? What happens backstage? What does it take to compete?

These and many other topics will be discussed as Oreet shares her experiences of participating in Bellydance Competitions across the United States. In this workshop, you will learn a mini routine that consists of an up-beat entrance piece, a taksim and a drum solo.  Showing versatility and smooth mood changes are key to a solid competition performance! So if you’re interested in competing, have already competed or just want to know more about competitions…this is the workshop for you!

THE NITTY GRITTY I! -  WITH AVA FLEMING - SUNDAY MORNING WORKSHOP!
Knobby knees and boney elbows be gone!  Fine tune your dance and pick up a little of what makes a dancer look good.  Discussing dance "lines," dancing "tall," body positioning and those little tweaks that make a professional look so great.  This is a fine tuning workshop, please do not wear baggy pants, melodias, skirts, baggy t-shirts, or a coin belt.  It is imperative for Ava to see your body line in order to make the proper corrections.  Please be advised that this workshop is designed to make you aware, not make you sweat. (This workshop take place on Sunday).

Ava will be teaching individual private lessons on Saturday (the day of the competition) and will also be teaching a workshop. Group Workshop with Ava, Sunday November 21, 2009.

FLAWLESS COMPETITION MAKEUP & HAIR - Workshop with Azhia
Many, if not all, competition judging criteria include makeup/grooming. Don't lose precious points because your makeup and coiffure did not complement your appearance! Learn the basics of skin tone, color theory, and how to camouflage "imperfections" in order to craft a unique, star-quality appearance. Demonstrations and lecture for proper hair and makeup for competitions and performance are included in this workshop.

As part of the workshop, Azhia will be scheduling private consultations prior to competition day that involve personalized makeup application and lesson so that competitors can do it on their own day of with more knowledge.

The Competition Face
In addition, Azhia will be available to provide her professional hair and makeup services for contestants privately. This service will be available on a limited basis only. As Azhia's makeup services are in high demand, serious inquiries only. 
DYNAMIC TROUPE PERFORMANCE for the COMPETITION STAGE -
Workshop with Lotus Niraja

How to bellydance together cohesively, collectively, and dynamically for the competition stage! Learn how to put together group choreographies, use intercommunication, develop improv skills, lead/follow techniques, stylization and stage patterns and most importantly...how to showcase a dynamic performance for your judges! Lotus Niraja, the director The NDC, one of the premiere bellydance troupes in the U.S., will share with you successful techniques to make your troupe shine.  Lotus has trained bellydance competition winners and will share with you how to make your audience and judges pay attention to you and/or your troupe. From her own personal dance company, The NDC, learn tips that have worked and some that didn't! Competitors, dance teachers, troupe directors, student dancers, professional groups... this workshop is for you!

DANCING WITH GRACE "BALANCE AND SPINNING TECHINIQUE" -
Workshop with Grace
Experience 90 MINUTES of incredible balance & spinning technique from one of Maryland's Leading Dance Instructors of Dancing With Grace Productions. So many competitors lose crucial placement points due to lack of balance and stability during turns and movements in their routines. Many people have trouble w/balance for many reasons: bad hearing, allergies, neurological/back problems, head placement & vertigo are just some of the reasons we can have trouble spinning.  Grace understands all these problems because she was diagnosed w/vertigo & has had severe neurological problems in the past. Doctors even told her that her dance career was over!  She proved them all wrong!  YOU CAN SPIN & TAKE YOUR ROUTINE TO THE NEXT LEVEL! This class is designed for any dancer. Grace will help you master the skill of spinning! Never worry about spotting again!
